FAIRFORD CRICKET CLUB - THE PLACE TO BE IN THE SUMMER
Fairford Cricket Club welcomes you to the very traditional and picturesque Cotswold setting at our glorious Park Street ground, part of the scenic Fairford Park Estate, which was founded by English philanthropist Ernest Cook; grandson of the famous victorian entrepreneur Thomas Cook.
We have two Saturday league sides playing in Divisions 2 and 8 of the Gloucestershire County Cricket League, a team playing in the Cotswold District Cricket Association Midweek T20 Cup Competition and a friendly Xl playing on Sunday afternoons.
There is a developing junior section whose members are coached every Friday evening during the summer. Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13 teams play in the Cotswold District Junior Cricket Leagues on Sunday mornings (Under-9s and Under-11s) and Thursday evenings (Under-13s). We will also be inaugural members of the Cotswold District Girls' League in 2012. There are plenty of opportunities for teenagers to play for the adult teams on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and 2012 will also witness the launch of our very first women's team.
We have an open and equitable policy and encourage people to join us and take advantage of our excellent bar facilities and strong social membership.
The club achieved Clubmark Accreditation in August 2011, that proves we have met the benchmark for high quality community cricket set down by our governing body the ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board). We have school partnerships with Fairford, Hatherop and Southrop C. of E. Primary Schools where we provide coaching through the Charitable Foundation's Chance to Shine Scheme, designed to bring cricket back into state schools. In February 2012 we were awarded ‘Focus Club’ status by the GCB (Gloucestershire Cricket Board) in recognition of our sound management and outstanding contribution to local schools and the community.
